Purpose of Public Education statement

Please see email from Educators SA:

Dear Colleagues

We have been fighting for educators to have a say in deciding what happens to education in SA and now we have a great chance to do this!

We are hosting the only ‘non-employer’ consultation for educators on the forthcoming Purpose of Public Education statement and we need you to actively participate in making sure educator voice is heard.

This Purpose statement will frame the development of public education for the next decade. It’s not just going to sit on a shelf, it’s going to have a real impact on public education and, over time, all education in South Australia.

We need your ideas and insights; we need educator associations to help create this Statement.

Please circulate the attached flyer to your members with an encouragement to be involved.  Share with your work colleagues or any other educators you know.

You can attend at the Convention Centre or online.

Date:                     16th February

Time:                     4:30 to 7:00pm

Venue:                 Adelaide Convention Centre or on Zoom.

Register now:    https://events.humanitix.com/purposes-of-public-education-consultation-forum

The event is free and refreshments will be provided for those attending in person.

If online, you will receive the link prior to the event.

We will have a chance to listen to and ask questions of the Department’s CE, Professor Martin Westwell, and then lots of opportunities to work with colleagues to inform the foundation of this statement.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a big turnout to this event to demonstrate the determination of the profession and professional associations to framing the future of education in this State.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Regards

Rod
