Please see some specific Adelaide Zoo workshops focusing on engineering and designing conservation with students:
Zoo STEAM Teach: https://www.zoossa.com.au/teacher-development/ or here via our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19zeDqgLqh/
For your members specifically, our Engineering expert will be leading a session on “engineering and designing conservation with your students” where they will explore how you can use local conservation issues for design, technology, and engineering projects within school contexts.
Teachers will have the opportunity to experiment with different resources related to the engineering and design learning projects below:
- Habitat Design (Years 4-6)
- Trap building with a First Nations design ecology (Years 7-9)
- Building bird boxes (Years 10-12)
- Technologies for change (Years 10-12)
Some of these ideas will be shared again in our ‘Conservation for Education’ Professional Learning session later in the year, however this will be less explicitly connected to ACARA and SACE.
We will be launching a program later in the year for Design and Technology, Critiquing and Designing Solutions (Stage 1 & 2) that will be exploring how we designed the new Elephant Habitat at Monarto Safari Park (you can find this one here: https://www.zoossa.com.au/secondary-monarto/).
