PeCan+ Capture the Flag

High school students and their teachers are invited to join Adelaide’s 2023 Capture the Flag training and competition weekend. Learn about cybersecurity tools and put them into practice as you capture ‘flags’ upon completing each cybersecurity challenge.

Registration Website

PeCan event is open to all secondary students from year 9-12, however if you have very keen year 8 students, they will be welcome.  There are 3 categories, from beginner, intermediate and advanced, so all skill levels from no background through to some experience is covered.  When they register, they will receive an email with a list of very useful resources that will support them to develop skills.

Saturday the 5th of August is a training day, which is open to both teachers and students, with no (or very little) previous experience in programming or cybersecurity. Our onsite tutors will support you while you learn about Cryptography, Digital Forensics, Steganography, Reverse Engineering, and Software and Web exploitation.

Sunday the 6th of August will be competition day and is open to high school students (teachers are more than welcome as spectators or to join a teachers team!), where there will be a beginner, intermediate and advanced division. Students are invited to register in teams of 4, but individuals can register to be placed in a team too! Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th place getters and girls are strongly encouraged to register with prizes for top-scoring female teams.
