Please be advised that the Design and Technology Teachers Association of South Australia are providing a Professional Development opportunity for anyone interested in continuing their development as a Design and Technology Teacher. This event will be an excellent opportunity to catch up with other teachers in the field and share your own experiences whilst learning some new skills.

Parking information: Long term public parking can be found in P4. This is closer to the Factory of the Future than the main building, so please feel free to instruct people to meet there first. They can get there by following the red path from P4, through Gate 6 and then heading immediately to their right, they will see the Factory of the Future sign pictured in the map.

Dr. Robert Trott — Lecturer in Engineering (Teaching and Research)
Dr. Robert Trott’s current research is affiliated with the Medical Device Research Institute and continues the work of his PhD in stroke rehabilitation robotics and focuses on neurorehabilitation, biomechanics, robotics, and all things design.
Michael Russo - PhD Candidate, Surgical Skills Coordinator, Casual Academic
The laboratory, also serving as the home for the Flinders Surgical Lab, boasts an impressive array of resources including single and multi-axis testing machines, surgical and general tools, and facilities tailored for surgical training. At the core of the labs engineering capabilities is the Biomechanics Hexapod, facilitating realistic replication of human joint movements. Additionally, the lab houses equipment for x-ray imaging and micro-mechanical analysis.
VR and Rehabilitation
Thomas Beltrame, PhD Candidate, will have his VR headsets set-up ready to show you how Virtual Reality is changing how we enable music therapy in a stroke survivor rehabilitation setting. His stall will also be accompanied by Orbi, a rehabilitation gaming system, designed to make treatment fun and enjoyable.
Desing and Technology Opportunities
Pepe Velaquez is the Design Program Course Coordinator Bachelor of Design and Technology, and a recognised ‘pracademic’ – Senior Lecture in engineering. Pepe has vast amounts of experience in design and technology, spanning multiple countries and industries, and is a champion of Sustainable Product Strategies. Pepe’s will be setup ready to chat about opportunities for you and your students in this exciting space.
